Doctors & Staff

Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Amherst Eye Care the leading provider of vision care products and services in Williamsville.

Dr. David Burstein

Dr. Burstein obtained his BA from SUNY at Buffalo in 1980 and his doctor of optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1984. He has been in private practice for 30 years and recently retired from the New York Air National Guard at the rank of Lt Colonel after 22 years of service. Dr. Burstein is a member of the American Optometric Association and is currently serving as president of the Western New York Society of Optometrists. He specializes in difficult contact lens cases, which includes corneal pathologies such as keratoconus, grafts, and other corneal irregularities. He has lived in the Buffalo area for most of his life and enjoys restoring old cars, fishing, and spending time with his three children.

Dr. Sandra Segerson

Dr. Segerson graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a BS in biology and earned her doctor of optometry degree from the Michigan College of Optometry.  A member of the American Optometric Association, Dr. Segerson joined our practice in 2010 after moving back to her hometown. She enjoys working with kids, fitting contact lenses, and treating dry eye. Dr. Segerson loves spending time with her husband, daughter, and dog.

Denise Molenda – Office Manager

Denise graduated in 1980 with an AAS in Fashion Merchandising Management from Bryant and Stratton. After many years working for Glickstein Jewelers, L.L.Bergers (Assistent Manager and Buyer), and Hit or Miss (Assistent Manager), she felt ready for a change. Denise has been at Kenmore Eye Eye Care since 1999. She manages the daily operations of both offices as well as all medical billing. She resides in Buffalo off William and enjoys football, music, summer, exciting casino adventures, and many other WNY activities and attractions.

Renata Dielman – Optician

Born and raised in Kiev, Ukraine, Renata relocated to Buffalo with her family when she was 25 years old. Renata had received her degree in Electrical Engineering from the Russian University but decided to attend college in the US for a more people-oriented degree. She graduated from ECC in 1998 with an AAS in Ophthalmic Dispensing and has been working at our Kenmore office since then. Renata resides in North Tonawanda with her 2 daughters, 2 cats, and 2 dogs. She enjoys boating, exercise, and time with family and friends.

Diana Balconi – Optician

Diana moved to the United States from Russia in 1992 with her parents. She obtained an AAS in Ophthalmic Dispensing in 1998 from ECC North where she served as senior class vice president and graduated with honors. Diana started as an ophthalmic technician for an ophthalmologist before beginning her optical career at Amherst Eye Care in 2000. Diana enjoys spending time with friends and family, bowling, skiing, and raising her 7-year old daughter.

Marissa Ciliberto – Optician

Marissa obtained a B.A. in Biological Sciences from the University at Buffalo in 2012.  She went on to obtain an A.A.S. in Ophthalmic Dispensing from Erie Community College in 2014.  Marissa resides in Gasport, and she enjoys bowling and spending time with her friends and family.

Hilary Kraft – Optician and Receptionist

Hilary has been with our practice since 2007. She is a life-long Buffalonian and mother of two boys. Hilary has been training as an optician under the supervision of Dr. Burstein and looks forward to becoming licensed soon. In her free time she enjoys spending time outdoors, taking her boys to the park, and being with her family.

Sarah Hoover – Receptionist

Sarah was born and raised in Wheatfield, NY. She joined our practice in September 2011 and works primarily at our Amherst office. Sarah returned to school in September 2015 at Niagara County Community College. She acquired a certificate in Chemical and Substance Abuse Counseling and was inducted in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society in April 2017. Sarah will soon graduate with an Associate’s Degree in Human Services. She then plans to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling at Niagara University. Sarah enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her daughter. She also enjoys music, coffee, and helping others.

Inna Leshchinskay – Optician

Inna moved to Buffalo in 2002 and earned her ophthalmic dispensing degree from ECC in 2013. Prior to that, she attended beauty school in Russia and obtained her cosmetology license in New York State as well. Inna joined Kenmore Eye Care in the summer of 2015. She enjoys cats and shopping.

Cheryl Mitchell – Receptionist

Cheryl was born in Jamaica and then lived in Canada for most of her life. It was there that she graduated and worked as a pharmacy technician for seven years. She joined our practice in 2015 after moving to Buffalo. She enjoys being involved at her church where she serves as one of the praise and worship leaders. She is classically trained on the piano and enjoys action movies, listening to music, shopping, and spending quality time with her family. Cheryl is a proud mom of three children: 2 girls and 1 boy.

Bethany VanOcker – Receptionist

Bethany graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a BA in Psychology in 2016. She then moved back to the Buffalo area and worked with the city’s youth before joining our practice in April 2017. She currently resides in Williamsville with her boyfriend and two fur-babies. Bethany enjoys being outdoors, cooking, and spending time with her family.
